KABUL: Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, recently made strong statements accusing Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), of “betraying” the non-proliferation regime.
Baqaei said in a statement on his X that Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has confirmed an upcoming meeting with the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and the UK, scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) in Switzerland.
Araghchi emphasized that this meeting was requested by the foreign ministers of the mentioned countries.
Baqaei also referred to Grossi’s recent statements regarding the lack of evidence for Iran’s attempts to develop nuclear weapons, stating that Grossi’s acknowledgment comes too late.
He said, “Mr. Grossi, you have betrayed the non-proliferation regime and turned the agency into a partner in this unjust and aggressive war. Your misleading narrative has devastating consequences, and you must be held accountable.”
This criticism follows Grossi’s report to the Board of Governors and the approval of a resolution against Iran’s nuclear program last Thursday, after which Israel launched an attack on Iran early Friday morning.
