KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, have once again targeted each other with verbal attacks.
Reuters reported today that the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX criticized a proposal for reducing taxes and increasing government spending, while Trump called for an examination of government subsidies received by Musk’s companies in recent years.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Elon may have received more subsidies than any other human in history. Without these subsidies, he would likely have had to close his shop and return to South Africa. There would be no rockets launched, no satellites, and no electric cars produced. Our country would have saved billions of dollars.”
The remarks prompted an immediate response from Musk, who tweeted: “I literally say cut it all off, right now.”
Previously, tensions had flared between Trump and Musk about six months ago, during the U.S. presidential election campaign, when they were key and unconditional supporters of each other.
Later, Musk described some of his comments as “excessive,” indicating a retreat from the confrontation.
