KABUL: Leaders of the BRICS nations have criticized the tariffs imposed on imports by U.S. President Donald Trump, labeling them as harmful to the global economy.
In a joint statement, they expressed serious concern about the increase in unilateral tariffs and non-tariff measures, stating, “These actions not only harm international trade but also contradict the principles of the WTO.”
BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has supported a fair global economic system for years. They argue that the tariffs imposed by the U.S. increase instability rather than addressing trade imbalances.
These countries have warned that such unilateral measures negatively impact the stability, development, and trust in the global economy.
