Khalilzad criticizes human rights advocates for their treatment of women

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, has challenged countries claiming to champion human rights, questioning their treatment of women within their own borders.

In a recent post on his X, he criticized the defenders of the United Nations’ latest resolution, arguing that they have never treated women and girls fairly in their own countries.

Khalilzad noted that Afghanistan has just emerged from conflict, its assets are frozen, it faces mass migration, and is subjected to numerous sanctions without support.

He described the recent UN resolution as unreasonable and shameful.
