Minister Muttaqi in telephone conversation with his Iranian counterparts emphasized on dignified and gradual return of Afghan migrants

KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, has had a telephone conversation with Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of Iran, the ministry said in a statement today.

According to the statement, Muttaqi expressed concern over the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Iran and emphasized the need for their dignified and gradual return.

He also described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as dire, stating that influential Islamic countries have a responsibility to end the widespread suffering inflicted on Palestinians by Israel.

Araqchi, for his part, promised to ensure that the process of deporting Afghan migrants from Iran would be conducted in a gradual and respectful manner, safeguarding their rights.

He mentioned that it is essential for a meeting of the foreign ministers of Islamic countries to decide on solutions regarding Gaza.

Both sides also exchanged views on bilateral issues.

Notably, in recent weeks, over 700,000 Afghan migrants have been expelled from Iran and returned to their home country.
