KABUL: Several political and civil activists in Pakistan have expressed their opposition to the government’s plan for the forced deportation of Afghan migrants from the country.
They voiced their concerns during a press conference held at the National Press Club of Pakistan.
The joint coalition of refugees, human rights organizations, and relief agencies in Pakistan, along with representatives from at least three political parties, participated in the meeting.
Participants called for an immediate halt to the forced deportations of Afghan migrants, emphasizing, “We seek humanity, not forced removal.”
The activists officially outlined their demands to the Pakistani government in a statement, urging it to stop the forced deportation of Afghan migrants.
Similar to 2023, the Pakistani government has decided to forcibly expel 1.2 million Afghan migrants holding temporary POR cards.
This decision has sparked reactions both domestically in Pakistan and internationally.
