Emergency meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers in Qatar, Araghchi arrives in Doha

KABUL: Five days after Israel’s attack on Qatar, Doha, the capital of the Gulf nation, is hosting an emergency meeting of foreign ministers from Islamic countries.
The meeting will be held today, with the participation of foreign ministers from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, who has traveled to Doha for this meeting, stated on X that Iran stands with Qatar and indeed with all Muslim brothers and sisters, especially against “a plague that has terrified the region.”
The phrase “a plague that has terrified the entire region” appears to refer to Israeli attacks on Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and, most recently, Qatar.
Israel’s military targeted Hamas leaders in the heart of Doha five days ago. Although the attack was unsuccessful, it sparked widespread reactions and was strongly condemned by countries within the Islamic world.
It remains to be seen what cohesive decisions senior diplomats from Islamic countries will make regarding Israel during this meeting.
