KABUL: The United Nations has announced that it will reduce its peacekeeping forces by 25% in nine countries in the coming months due to a budget shortfall.
This decision, which affects a total of 14,000 personnel—including police and civilian staff—has been attributed to the lack of financial support from the United States.
This comes on the heels of a significant reduction in international aid, as the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) also reported the dismissal of around 5,000 staff members just yesterday due to similar funding issues.
