KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, has reiterated that Pakistan has consistently supported instability in Afghanistan over the decades.
Pointing to a recent statement from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling for “freedom” for the people of Afghanistan, Khalilzad said in a post on his X on Monday night that Pakistan should focus on its own internal “chaos and disorder” instead of advising others.
According to him, the existing “chaos and disorder” in Pakistan is a result of the military’s control over governance.
He stated, “Instead of giving unsolicited advice to other countries on how to manage their political affairs, Pakistan’s leaders should concentrate on the chaos and disorder they have created within their own country and find a way to end the two major internal insurgencies they are facing.”
Khalilzad specifically pointed to the recent unrest in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It is noteworthy that two days ago, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed wishes for “freedom” for the people of Afghanistan in response to recent military clashes with Afghanistan.
