KABUL: The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the James Foley Foundation of the United States has awarded its “Hostage Freedom Award” for 2026 to Qatar’s Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Salih Al-Khalifi.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foundation stated that Al-Khalifi has played a significant role as a key intermediary in negotiations for the release of American hostages in conflict areas such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Gaza, and Venezuela.
The foundation also noted that his skills have facilitated the building of bridges of trust, opened pathways for dialogue, and guided effective negotiations in resolving complex cases.
The Foley Foundation highlighted that Qatar’s Foreign Minister found solutions related to relations and humanitarian issues even in cases where the United States had no formal ties.
