Trump’s 6-day trip to Asia: From meetings with ASEAN leaders to chairing peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has begun a six-day visit to Asia, starting with his arrival in Malaysia.

Al Jazeera reported today that President Trump has landed in this Southeast Asian nation.

During this trip, the U.S. President is set to meet with leaders from the 10 Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN) and will also chair the signing of a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia.

It is expected that the White House leader will discuss trade tariffs and access to rare minerals in a meeting with the ASEAN leaders.

According to published information, Trump will also visit South Korea and Japan, two close allies of Washington, during this trip.

At the conclusion of his Asia visit and upon returning to the White House, President Trump is scheduled to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, for the first time since the beginning of his second term in office.

ASEAN, short for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, includes 10 countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
