U.S. fighter jet and military helicopter crash in separate incidents in South China Sea

KABUL: A fighter jet, specifically an F/A-18, and a military helicopter of the U.S. Army have crashed in separate incidents in the South China Sea.
CBS News reported early today on the crashes involving the two U.S. military aircraft.
According to the U.S. Navy, the crews of both aircraft were rescued following the incidents.
The U.S. Pacific Fleet stated that the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter, nicknamed “Fighting Cats,” went down during operations, and all three crew members were successfully rescued.
About 30 minutes later, an F/A-18F Super Hornet jet, referred to as “Red Roosters,” also crashed during routine operations.
According to the fleet’s announcement, both pilots managed to eject successfully before being rescued.
The U.S. Navy emphasized that the causes of the crashes of both the fighter jet and the military helicopter stationed in the South China Sea are under investigation.
The South China Sea is part of the Pacific Ocean located in Southeast Asia and is strategically significant, accounting for 30% of global trade. Countries bordering this sea include China, Brunei, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
The crashes occurred while President Donald Trump was visiting Malaysia and was in the vicinity of the South China Sea.
