Syrian President arrives in the U.S.

KABUL: Ahmad al-Sharaa, the President of Syria, has arrived in the U.S. for an official visit, according to reports from Syrian state media, SANA news agency today.

While it did not provide further details about the president’s trip, earlier reports indicated that al-Sharaa is in Washington to join the coalition against ISIS and is expected to announce his country’s participation alongside Donald Trump.

This visit comes shortly after the United Nations Security Council lifted sanctions imposed on Ahmad al-Sharaia.

Donald Trump remarked a few days ago about the Syrian president’s visit, stating that he has done an “extraordinary job” and that he might meet with him at the White House.

This is Ahmad al-Sharafa’s second visit to the U.S. as President of Syria this year; his first was to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
