Dr. Mohammad Naeem: Major issue in Istanbul negotiations was Pakistan’s unrealistic proposals

KABUL: Dr. Mohammad Naeem, Deputy for Financial and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a meeting with foreign diplomats in Kabul that the primary problem in the third round of Istanbul talks was the introduction of unrealistic and impractical issues by Pakistan.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday evening, he said that linking all insecurities in Pakistan to Afghanistan during these discussions indicates that certain circles within the Pakistani military do not wish for the issues between Kabul and Islamabad to be resolved through dialogue.

He added that the irresponsible behavior and lack of cooperation from the Pakistani delegation prevented the Islamic Emirate, despite the goodwill and efforts of mediators, from achieving any meaningful results.

He emphasized that Afghanistan is in communication with mediators and is ready to pursue diplomatic avenues to resolve issues whenever Pakistan demonstrates goodwill and brings reasonableness and realism to its position.

This comes as the third round of talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan in Istanbul, Turkey, ended without results.
