U.S.-Venezuela tensions: U.S. continues military buildup against Venezuela

KABUL: Following the deployment of advanced naval vessels near Venezuela and in the Caribbean Sea, Caracas has also conducted military maneuvers, mobilizing its military units and initiating the gathering of weapons and military equipment.
Fox News reported on Tuesday evening that the Venezuelan government has stationed small military units in over 280 different locations as part of a “long-term resistance.”
In the report, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused the U.S. of attempting to overthrow his government, asserting that the people of Venezuela will defend their homeland.
Simultaneously, planned U.S. air assaults in the Caribbean, which the Pentagon describes as operations against drug traffickers and their vessels, continue.
Additionally, the U.S. Navy announced yesterday that the carrier strike group USS Gerald R. Ford has entered Caribbean waters.
In response to escalating military threats from Washington in its waters, Caracas has sought assistance from its allies, including Russia, China, and Iran.
Recently, the Russian Foreign Ministry signaled support for the Venezuelan officials’ requests, indicating a willingness to assist.
It remains to be seen whether this military buildup will lead to an armed confrontation between the two countries.
