KABUL: Widespread anti-government protests occurred in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on Thursday, November 22.
The anti-government demonstrations reportedly escalated into violence.
The protests are led by the Jamaat-e-Islami party, which is calling for the immediate holding of general elections in the country.
The party has also demanded the arrest and trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to Bangladeshi media, protesters have damaged public property and vehicles in various areas of the city.
