KABUL: In a historic move, members of the United Nations Security Council have approved a peace plan for the Gaza Strip through a resolution early today.
According to the resolution, a “Peace Delegation” and an “International Stability Force” will be established in Gaza based on the 20-point peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The resolution was approved with 13 votes in favor out of 15 permanent and observer members of the UN, with 2 abstentions and no votes against it.
The adoption of this resolution paves the way for peace in the Gaza Strip.
This comes approximately 50 days after President Trump’s 20-point peace plan was endorsed by leaders from 20 countries at a summit in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt.
