KABUL: The People’s Republic of China, without mentioning the United States by name, stated that the recent rise in high tariffs and other trade barriers over the past year has dealt a heavy blow to the international economic and trade order.
Liu Jianchao, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement this morning, stated that Li Qiang, the Prime Minister of China, participated in the 24th meeting of the Council of Prime Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization held in Russia.
During the meeting, the Chinese Prime Minister noted that in the past year, various unilateral and protectionist measures, particularly the increase in high tariffs and other trade barriers, have severely impacted the international economic and trade order, creating significant challenges for the development of many countries.
He added that in light of these approaches, Chinese President Xi Jinping has proposed the “Global Governance Initiative” as a solution.
According to the published information, this initiative aims to provide a Chinese solution to assist the global community in jointly addressing global transformations and urgent challenges.
Political analysts have noted that the 24th meeting of the Council of Prime Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization opposed global unilateralist actions.
