KABUL: The Israeli military has announced that it has killed Hezbollah’s deputy, Haitham Ali Tabatabai, in an airstrike on the outskirts of Beirut, Lebanon.
Hours after the Israeli attack, Hezbollah confirmed in a statement that Tabatabai, who is also recognized as the group’s chief of staff, lost his life in the strike.
The United States had previously offered a $5 million reward for information leading to Tabatabai’s capture.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the Israeli airstrike, which targeted a residential building, resulted in at least five fatalities and 28 injuries.
