KABUL: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, discussed various issues.
According to TRT, Turkey’s state media, on Saturday night, in the discussion, President Erdogan emphasized the importance of maintaining communication channels between Washington and Caracas, expressing hope that tensions between the two sides would decrease soon.
Erdogan stated, “We are closely monitoring the situation in the region; Turkey believes that issues can be resolved through dialogue.”
According to the media report, the two leaders also discussed bilateral relations and regional matters during the call.
Relations between the U.S. and Venezuela have sharply deteriorated in recent weeks, reaching a critical point of military confrontation.
Some U.S. political figures have claimed that Trump, in a phone call with Maduro, asked him to leave Caracas with his family, a request that the Venezuelan president did not accept.
