Royal Navy Chief warns: Russia is gaining dominance in Atlantic Ocean

KABUL: General Sir Gavin Jenkins, head of the Royal Navy, has recently warned that if London does not take “serious steps” and increase defense funding, Russia will achieve maritime supremacy in the Atlantic Ocean.

According to British media outlet Sky News on Tuesday morning, he stated that if this were to happen, it would be the first time since World War II that the naval forces of Britain and its allies would lose control over the most important maritime routes.

In a press briefing in London, he said, “We are still standing, but very close to the edge. There is no room for complacency. Our potential rivals are spending billions. We need to step up—otherwise, we will lose this advantage.”

Sources have indicated that there are significant concerns regarding Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s pledges to rebuild the defense forces and the practical execution of those plans.

Currently, the British military must either secure billions of pounds for modernization or limit its ambitions.
