The epicenter of the earthquake was detected 80 kilometers off the coast of Aomori Prefecture and at a depth of 54 kilometers.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency initially issued tsunami warnings for the provinces of Hokkaido, Aomori, and Iwate, but later downgraded the alert level.

The strongest tremors were felt in the city of Hachinohe in Aomori Prefecture.

Reports indicate that at least 30 individuals have sustained injuries as a result of the earthquake. However, detailed and final information regarding casualties and damage from this natural disaster has not yet been released.
