KABUL: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on Saturday night that an armed individual affiliated with ISIS targeted American citizens in Syria in a deliberate ambush.
According to the statement, those killed in the attack include two military personnel and one civilian, while the injured consist of three military members, all of whom are U.S. citizens.
The U.S. Central Command indicated that the attacker was also killed in response to the actions of U.S. forces.
The statement added, “In order to respect the families of these individuals and in accordance with ‘Department of Defense’ policy, the identities of the military personnel will be withheld for 24 hours following notification to immediate family members.”
