KABUL: The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Beijing and Riyadh will expand their bilateral economic cooperation over the next five years.
Liu Jianchao, spokesperson for the ministry, said in a statement today that Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister, during his official visit to Saudi Arabia, mentioned in a meeting with his Saudi counterpart that the two countries’ cooperation will take place within the framework of Beijing’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), and China will open new economic avenues.
During this visit, Wang Yi chaired the fifth meeting of the China-Saudi Arabia Political Committee with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.
In the statement, the Chinese Foreign Minister called on both sides to strengthen cooperation in areas such as energy and investment, while also expanding collaboration in new fields, including renewable energy and the green transition.
Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s leading oil-producing countries, while China ranks as the second-largest nation in the information technology sector.
