KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has filed a 33-page lawsuit against the BBC, claiming $10 billion in damages from the media outlet.
According to the Associated Press this morning, in his complaint, the president accuses the British broadcaster of providing a “false, defamatory, misleading, derogatory, provocative, and malevolent portrayal” of him while seeking compensation.
He also described the BBC’s actions as a “brazen attempt to influence and interfere in the last (2024) U.S. election.”
The lawsuit states that the BBC deliberately merged two separate sections of his speech on January 6, 2021, to distort the meaning of his words.
The BBC has yet to respond to Trump’s lawsuit. It is notable that in connection with this issue, the BBC’s Executive Director and Head of News have previously resigned from their positions.
