At least 30 people killed, wounded in road accident in Guatemala

KABUL: At least 15 people were killed and 15 others injured in a deadly road incident in Guatemala, Central America, Sky News reported on Saturday night.

The accident occurred when a bus veered off the “Guatemala to Totonicapan” road in a mountainous area and plunged into a 100-meter deep valley.

Following the tragic incident, the President of Guatemala declared three days of national mourning. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured full assistance to the injured.

Search and rescue teams worked throughout the night to recover bodies and transport the injured.

Details regarding the identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Road incidents remain a serious concern in Guatemala, highlighting ongoing issues with traffic safety in this Central American country.
