KABUL: China’s military has conducted a military exercise called “Mission Justice 2025” around Taiwan.
According to Reuters, citing the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese military, the drills began today in the north and southwest of the Taiwan Strait.
The Chinese military reported that live ammunition was used in shooting drills, along with simulated attacks involving ground forces, warships, fighter jets, and artillery during the exercise.
The Eastern Theater Command also stated that the drills will continue until Tuesday (tomorrow) and will include a siege of Taiwan’s main ports and a complete encirclement of the island.
A senior security official from Taiwan informed the news agency that dozens of Chinese military vessels and aircraft are operating around the island and have deliberately approached neighboring areas.
This exercise coincides with Taiwan’s practice of repelling a potential attack, as the island has put its forces on high alert.
China’s drills around Taiwan were launched about 10 days after the U.S. announced a new arms sale package worth $11.1 billion to the island.
