Iran denounces Canada’s navy as ‘Terrorist Organization’

KABUL: In a reciprocal reaction, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has designated the Canadian Navy as a ‘terrorist organization,’ as stated in an official statement.
According to the statement, the decision comes in response to the Canadian government’s designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a ‘terrorist entity.’
The Iranian Foreign Ministry described Canada’s action as an ‘illegal decision and labeling’ of a part of Iran’s armed forces.
It stated that this decision falls under Article 7 of a law enacted in 2019 in Canada, which explicitly states that any country that designates the IRGC as ‘terrorist’ must reciprocate against that country.
The law further clarifies that ‘all countries that in any way follow or support the U.S. decision to label the IRGC as a terrorist organization will be subject to reciprocal actions.’
Tehran has consistently asserted that the IRGC is part of Iran’s armed forces, established to defend the rights and position of the Iranian people.
