KABUL: India’s Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, has reaffirmed New Delhi’s commitment to “people-centric and community-focused” assistance for the people of Afghanistan.
The Hindustan Times reported on Friday night, while he was addressing students from various countries residing in India.
In response to a question from an Afghan student, he described the relationship between India and Afghanistan as longstanding and noted that New Delhi continues its engagement with Kabul based on these two pillars.
He emphasized that India is currently collaborating with Afghanistan in the fields of development, humanitarian aid, and healthcare.
Jaishankar also described his meeting with Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, as positive.
The remarks come at a time when New Delhi has resumed relations with Kabul after a four-year hiatus, with ties significantly expanding in recent months and weeks.
