Anti-government protests in Iran enter 13th day; 51 protesters killed, Trump issues new warning

KABUL: The anti-government protests in various cities across Iran have entered their thirteenth day, with the country’s Human Rights Organization reporting on Friday night that 51 protesters have been killed by state security forces during the 13-day protests, and hundreds more injured.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has again issued a warning regarding the intentional targeting of protesters by Iranian government forces, stating that Washington will take action. This marks Trump’s third warning in the past 13 days concerning the deliberate targeting of demonstrators, emphasizing that he is closely monitoring the protests.

According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, at least 51 protesters have been killed across 11 provinces since the beginning of the protests. This figure only includes those deaths confirmed by the organization or two independent sources. The organization also noted that nine of the deceased were under the age of 18.

Human rights watchdogs and Amnesty International have accused the Iranian government of violating human rights. They reacted to the nationwide internet blackout in recent days, stating that this measure is intended to conceal the violence against protesters.

Iranian officials had previously labeled the protests in the country as unrest, claiming that the Israeli regime and the U.S. stand behind the so-called agitators.
