Witkoff calls first round of U.S.-Russia-Ukraine talks “very constructive”

KABUL: Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special representative for Middle Eastern affairs, in a post on his X on Saturday night, stated that the talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, with U.S. participation, held in the United Arab Emirates, were “very constructive.”

He did not specify the results of the first round of trilateral negotiations involving Kyiv and Moscow with Washington’s participation, but mentioned that it has been agreed that these discussions will continue next week in Abu Dhabi.

He noted, “President Trump and his entire team are committed to bringing peace to this war.”

The Russian and Ukrainian delegations initiated a new round of talks, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, aimed at ending the conflict.

The territorial issues are reported to be the main focus of discussions between the conflicting parties.

It appears that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations have returned to their respective leaders in Kyiv and Moscow to share the outcomes of the first round of talks.

It remains to be seen whether a resolution regarding the conflict, which will enter its fifth year in a month, can be achieved.
