KABUL: NATO has announced plans to create a new defense zone utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to counter Russian aggression against Ukraine.
According to a report by AFP, NATO’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Thomas Löwen, stated yesterday that this defense zone will be established as a buffer between Russia and Ukraine and will be fully equipped with AI technology.
He further noted that if this zone is attacked, AI will be able to respond automatically without direct human intervention.
According to Löwen, advanced aerial defense systems and missile defense assets will be deployed in this defense zone to prevent potential assaults.
Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and the conflict continues to this day. Throughout this period, Ukraine’s Western allies have provided extensive military support and various combat equipment to the country.
This will be the first time NATO has taken such an initiative to establish a defense zone using AI, marking a significant shift in the use of new technology on the battlefield.
