Pezeshkian: Iran open to U.S. talks free of “threats and unreasonable expectations”

KABUL: Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, announced in a post on his X today that he has recently issued a directive for negotiations with the United States in a conducive atmosphere, free from “threats and unreasonable expectations.”

According to the Iranian president, the directive for dialogue with American officials was issued at the request of regional governments and in response to a proposal from the U.S. president.

He emphasized that Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, will represent Iran in these talks.

Pezeshkian stated that the Foreign Minister should prepare the ground for fair and equitable negotiations based on the principles of dignity, wisdom, and national interest.

While the time and place for the upcoming discussions between Washington and Tehran have not yet been confirmed, reports suggest that the negotiations are expected to take place on Friday in Turkey between Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi and Steve Witkoff the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East.
