KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has stated that Russia’s decision to halt attacks on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, is considered a “significant step.”
Russian state news agency TASS reported early today, that the President remarked that a week is a significant amount of time, and everything should be accepted, especially considering the severe cold in Kyiv.
According to published information, Russia had suspended its attacks on the Ukrainian capital from last Sunday to this Sunday at Trump’s request.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, indicated that Trump had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to cease attacks on Kyiv for one week.
This pause in attacks comes amid statements from Denys Shmyhal, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine, who recently indicated that the energy supply situation in Kyiv is critical.
However, confrontations between Ukrainian and Russian military forces continue to prevail on the battlefronts.
