KABUL: Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), stated that the concerns raised at the United Nations regarding Afghanistan’s security are unfounded and based on inaccurate information rather than reality.
In a statement on Thursday, he said that certain countries are misusing the absence of an IEA representative at UN meetings to propagate concerning security matters regarding Afghanistan and to create unwarranted fears.
He stated:” The concerns arise because Afghanistan is not present at these discussions to present its documented position and the actual situation.”
Mawlavi Mujahid emphasized that complete security is established in Afghanistan, and there are no foreign or rogue armed groups operating within the country. He noted that the phenomenon of ISIS has been suppressed in Afghanistan; however, unfortunately, this group has created bases outside the country’s borders, particularly in neighboring areas.
The IEA official also assured that Afghanistan’s territory will not be used against anyone, asserting that no country should have concerns in this regard.
The statement comes after Alexander Zuev, a senior UN official, mentioned in a meeting the previous night (Wednesday) that the activities of ISIS in Afghanistan are detrimental to regional and global security.
