KABUL: Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, announced that Dalwa 26, which coincides with the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, has been designated as a “glorious” day in Afghanistan’s history.
In a statement today, Mawlavi Mujahid emphasized that the jihad, struggle, sacrifices, and migrations of the Afghan people against the Soviet Union led to the defeat of Soviet forces and their withdrawal from Afghanistan.
He reiterated that the Afghan people have consistently made sacrifices to preserve their faith, independence, and national values.
The statement notes that Afghanistan has been freed from occupation for the third time in the past century, highlighting the strong determination of the country’s people and their desire for an independent life.
The Islamic Emirate also urged the public to remain vigilant against any conspiracy or scheme, to maintain Islamic unity, and to follow their previous methods to safeguard their faith, beliefs, and independence.
On this day, 37 years ago (Dalwa 26, 1989), Soviet forces left the country after nearly a decade of armed struggle by the Afghan people against them.
