Trump says 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil en route to Houston

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump said that 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil are currently being shipped to the port of Houston in the U.S. state of Texas.

Speaking to reporters, Trump referred to U.S. assistance to Venezuela’s energy sector, stating that the shipment transported aboard large tankers is headed to Houston.

He had previously said that interim authorities in Venezuela would provide between 30 million and 50 million barrels of high-quality crude oil to the United States, despite sanctions imposed on the country’s energy exports.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that the oil would be sold at market prices and that the proceeds would remain under his control as president, to be used, in his words, for the benefit of both the Venezuelan and American people.

Trump also said he had asked Chris Wright to move quickly to implement the plan, adding that the oil would be transported via storage tankers to U.S. discharge ports.
