KABUL: Western media outlets have reported, citing credible American sources, that Donald Trump, the leader of the White House, is pursuing a limited and targeted attack to compel Iran to accept his demands.
The New York Times reported on Sunday night, that if the initial targeted attack does not resolve the issue, broader assaults by the U.S. in Iran could follow in the coming weeks.
The report does not specify which Iranian institutions or officials the U.S. attack would target.
This revelation about a potential attack comes amid recent reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, stated that if he were absent, Ali Larijani would take over leadership responsibilities. Larijani currently serves as the Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council.
This comes as Iranian and American delegations are set to meet again on Thursday in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss Iran’s nuclear program.
