KABUL: India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghan territory, stating that Islamabad is hypocritically targeting Muslims, especially women and children, during the holy month of Ramadan while claiming to support “Islamic solidarity.”
According to reports by Indian media cited by Ommcom News, P. Harish, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, made the remarks Monday night, during a UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan.
Harish said New Delhi considers Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the sovereignty of states.
“It is hypocritical to claim support for the noble principles of international law and Islamic solidarity while carrying out ruthless airstrikes during the holy month of Ramadan,” he stated.
India’s envoy also accused Islamabad of supporting terrorist groups, claiming that Pakistan uses such groups as proxy forces.
Earlier, China’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations also expressed concern over the recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan and the resulting civilian casualties.
