KABUL: The United States Senate has once again rejected a Democratic proposal to limit the authority of Donald Trump to launch future military strikes against Iran.
According to CNN on Wednesday, the measure—aimed at requiring the president to seek approval from the United States Congress before any new military action was voted down 53 to 47.
This marks the third failed attempt by Democrats to curb Trump’s war powers since the start of U.S. military actions involving Iran.
“Even if passed, the proposal faced significant hurdles, including further legislative steps in Congress and the possibility of a presidential veto, which would require a two-thirds majority to override,” the report said.
The vote comes as recent polling shows declining public support for Trump, partly linked to the ongoing conflict.
