Flash floods leave dozens dead or injured, homes destroyed in Afghanistan

KABUL: At least 17 people have been martyred and 26 others injured, due to flash floods across multiple provinces of the country in the past 24 hours, officials said.
According to National Disaster Management Authority spokesman Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, the casualties were reported in 13 provinces, including Herat, Faryab, Badghis, Ghor, and Laghman provinces.
He added that severe flooding and heavy rainfall have caused widespread destruction, with 37 homes completely destroyed and 110 others partially damaged, along with 10 shops.
24 water wells, 80 kilometers of roads, seven water supply networks, and more than 580 acres of agricultural land have been damaged and 503 families have been affected.
Authorities said emergency aid has already been delivered to affected areas and assured that sufficient relief supplies are available for further response.
The flooding has also disrupted transportation, with several highways closed and traffic severely affected in recent days.
