Senior Afghan, Uzbek officials stress expanding Kabul–Tashkent ties

KABUL: Senior diplomats of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have emphasized strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between Kabul and Tashkent.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, on the sidelines of the Afghanistan–Central Asia Consultative Dialogue met with Bobur Usmanov, Uzbekistan’s deputy foreign minister, here in Kabul, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today.
Both sides highlighted the importance of further developing the growing ties between the two countries and also exchanged views on the current regional situation.
Muttaqi stressed the need for joint efforts to implement proposals and ideas discussed during the consultative meeting, while Usmanov praised Kabul’s initiative in hosting the dialogue and reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s support for closer cooperation.
Uzbekistan remains one of the key Central Asian partners of Afghanistan, maintaining strong political, economic, and trade relations with the country.
