KABUL: Three electricity projects worth a total of 523 million Afghanis have been launched and put into operation in the presence of Mullah Abdul Haq Akhund Hamkar, CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) in Balkh province, officials said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the initiatives include upgrading the electricity distribution network from 6 kilovolts to 20 kilovolts, launching a new network with the same capacity, and modernizing transformer systems.
Authorities said the projects are expected to significantly improve electricity supply services for residents of Balkh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hamkar announced that a technical team has been deployed to assess ongoing electricity challenges in the province, with plans to address identified issues after their report is completed.
He also revealed that a 250-megawatt substation is scheduled to be constructed in Balkh next year, a project expected to substantially reduce power shortages in the northern province.
Officials emphasized that public funds are being utilized to improve services and pledged continued efforts to ensure a more stable and reliable electricity supply.
