Afghanistan aims to boost global competitiveness across key sectors, says FM Muttaqi

KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, says efforts are underway to make Afghanistan more competitive globally in education, security, the economy, and sports.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of an international traditional wrestling competition in Kabul, on Thursday, Muttaqi highlighted the government’s broader push to strengthen the country’s standing across multiple sectors.

The event brought together 60 athletes from seven countries, marking one of the larger international sporting gatherings hosted in Afghanistan in recent years.

Muttaqi expressed optimism that expanding sports ties would further enhance Afghanistan’s international engagement, adding that hosting such events reflects progress in the country’s sports sector alongside other areas.

He also voiced optimism that similar international competitions would continue to be held in Kabul in the future.
