Trump–Putin call: Kremlin leader calls U.S. ground operation in Iran “unacceptable and dangerous”

KABUL: In a recent phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin described a U.S. ground attack/operation against Iran as “unacceptable and dangerous.”
Russia’s state news agency TASS, citing a call held on Wednesday night, reported that the conversation between Putin and Trump was their 12th call in roughly 16 months since Trump returned to power.
According to Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, the Kremlin leader said Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran was the right move. Ushakov said Putin believes the step would contribute to dialogue and overall stability.
The report added that Putin warned of the inevitable and highly damaging consequences, not only for Iran and its neighbors, but for the broader international community— if the United States and Israel were to again resort to violent actions.
Ushakov also characterized the U.S.–Russia leaders’ call as “frank and businesslike,” noting it lasted about an hour and a half.
At the international level, he said the leaders’ main focus centered on Iran and the Persian Gulf.
The latest U.S.–Russia presidential talks, covering issues including Iran—followed a recent trip to Moscow by Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, who met and discussed with the Kremlin leader two days earlier.
