Over 5,000 Afghan migrants expelled from Pakistan in a single day

KABUL: More than 5,000 Afghan migrants were expelled from Pakistan in a single day, according Tia statement released by the High Commission for Addressing Refugee Issues today.

The commission’s statement said in its daily report on Saturday that a total of 5,178 Afghan migrants were deported on Friday and returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham Border Crossing in Nangarhar province and the Spin Boldak Border Crossing in Kandahar province.

According to the statement, 4,971 individuals entered through Torkham, while 207 others returned via Spin Boldak.

Upon arrival, the returnees were registered by relevant committees of the commission and later transferred to their respective provinces after receiving humanitarian assistance.

The development comes amid ongoing reports of mass deportations of Afghan migrants from Pakistan, despite earlier announcements by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation regarding the release of hundreds of Afghan prisoners from Pakistani detention facilities.
