Iran’s Araghchi calls U.S. “Operation Freedom” in Hormuz a ‘dead-end project’

KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, has called the U.S. military initiative “Operation Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz as a “dead-end project” in Tehran’s first official reaction.
Writing on X early Tuesday, Araghchi added that while peace talks between Tehran and Washington are making progress due to Pakistan’s efforts, the United States should be careful not to be pulled by “malicious actors”into a deadlock.
He also urged the United Arab Emirates to exercise similar caution.
“Developments in the Strait of Hormuz show that there is no military solution to a political crisis,” Araghchi said.
The comments come after the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the launch of “Operation Freedom,” aimed at securing commercial shipping routes through the strategic waterway.
The move reportedly led to a direct naval confrontation between Iranian and U.S. forces on its first day.
