KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has strongly condemned the assassination of prominent religious scholar Maulana Mohammad Idris in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
In a statement released Tuesday, spokesman Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid described the attack as an act carried out by “enemies of Islam.”
Maulana Idris, a senior teacher at the Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary in Akora Khattak near Peshawar, was targeted and lost his life this morning in an armed attack.
The statement described his death as a major and irreparable loss for the scholarly community and the wider Muslim world, noting that he had trained thousands of students.
The Islamic Emirate also extended condolences to his family, relatives, and followers, and asked for paradise for him and patience for his loved ones.
