KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has arrived in Beijing, the capital of China, for an official visit.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Araghchi landed in Beijing early Wednesday and is expected to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments.
China’s Foreign Ministry had earlier confirmed the visit and the planned meeting between the two officials.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during a press conference that he hopes Chinese leaders will urge Tehran not to “hold the global economy hostage.”
Araghchi’s trip to China, considered a key ally of Iran comes as part of a broader regional diplomatic tour that began in Pakistan and continued through Oman and Russia.
