KABUL: More than 30 Democratic members of the United States Congress have called on the State Department to end longstanding ambiguity surrounding Israel’s nuclear program.
According to Anadolu Agency, the lawmakers urged Secretary of State Marco Rubio to publicly acknowledge and disclose details of Israel’s undeclared nuclear capabilities.
The letter argues that decades of U.S. policy maintaining ambiguity over Israel’s nuclear status have undermined a consistent non-proliferation strategy in the Middle East.
The lawmakers also requested that Rubio provide information by May 18 on Israel’s nuclear arsenal, doctrine, delivery systems, and facilities, including the Dimona nuclear facility.
The move comes amid continued U.S. pressure on Iran over its nuclear program, highlighting what critics describe as a double standard in Washington’s approach to nuclear issues in the region.
